About us

Fashion that is different was created in 2008 by me, Tracey Madeley, a working mother with two boys. Previously I lived in Italy and after working for many years for other people, I decided to set up a small concession in a shop along with my first website, fratelli faure.com. This grew steadily, but real success came in April 2008 when I opened my first boutique, En Parade in Chislehurst, Kent. With a little advice, I also decided to change the website name to fashion that is different.com to hopefully draw in an audience looking for exactly that.

Over the last 18 months the store has developed into a destination shopping location for fashion hungry women from Kent and south east London and in a very short space of time has become home to some very exciting brands including, Avoca, Noa Noa & Lupo to name a few. The lifestyle boutique also has a relaxing cafe to complement the whole shopping experience.

My buying experience started over 20 years ago when I was a buyer for several independent fashion boutiques in the North West. Waiting for the right opportunity to come along, I stored all my knowledge and experience to channel into opening a store in the right location and the natural next step was to offer that very same, truly amazing shopping experience online.

Every item is personally and carefully chosen by me and nothing is left to chance. I have always had the ability to choose styles, colours and coordinating looks and there is something for every look, whether it is for work, casual daywear or a special occasion. I love the vintage inspired styles along with looks from just about every decade from the last century, but brought right up to date with today's European stylists. I have a great team who work with me to deliver the experience and we believe fashion that is different has it all. Along with some brands that we're sure you'll recognise we have some very exciting new exclusive collections that we're sure you'll love.
